A few firsts...

First baseball game.

On the 4th of July, we headed to watch the D-backs play the Dodgers. Kaelyn even wore her "1st Dbacks Tee" shirt. She did really well--she loved watching all the lights (especially the huge screen in the outfield) and only took a short nap.

This also lead to another first: First D-backs disappointment. She even cried. True story. The second the game ended and we lost, she burst into tears.

A funny part of the day was when we went to put her in the car. I had carried her to the parking garage, we had said goodbye to everybody, and I was holding her out to put her in her car seat and she fell asleep before I could even get her inside. She held out as long as she could, but poor little girl was exhausted!

First boyfriend

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of this, but when I picked her up after her first day of daycare, a little boy came to the door with Nada's husband. Nada came up to me and was just gushing about how much she loves Kaelyn and we started to walk to where she was, sitting in a bouncer. Well, the little boy (who is probably 18 months or so) went running over to her, leaned over her, resting his arms on the bouncer, and kissed Kaelyn on the forehead. Oh my goodness did she light up. He didn't move away then, he just stayed there, leaning on the bouncer, looking up at me as though to ask "And just who are you?" So I kneeled down and asked "And who is this?" Nada introduced him as Ashton and he did the shy, hide his face, maneuver. Then he kissed Kaelyn again on the forehead and she just could not stop smiling.

Here I had been worrying about my little girl all day, hoping the other kids would be nice to her, and she already had a potential suitor. Oh, Lordy.

First Giveaway Win (for me, at least)

If you follow my Mommy blog at all, you know I love giveaways. A month or so ago, I had won a Jockey one for Father's Day, which was for a pack of shirts for Brady that normally sells for $50. Score. Well, more recently, I won a giveaway to The Rusted Chain. It's a custom jewelry design store, similar to The Vintage Pearl, which I also love. I'm not into a whole lot of jewelry, but I just adore the personalized, handmade look and always having something I can wear and feel like Kaelyn is with me all the time, which is why I bought this one. I placed my order last week for my "Ohana" necklace so it was much to my surprise when it arrived on Friday. I LOVE it!

First "solid" food

Our pediatrician gave us the green light to try some foods with Kaelyn. I'm not going to lie, rice cereal didn't go over well. I think the timing was off. They say morning is best, which we didn't do and not only that, but she was getting close to nap time. My bad. I think we're going to try banana as her official first food sometime soon since technically I don't think she swallowed any of the rice cereal. (I know one try isn't enough to establish whether she liked it or not, but bananas are supposed to be a great first food and it doesn't take as much prep work as making rice cereal.)
You can create your own caption for that one.

First unassisted rollover

Probably most exciting of all--Kaelyn rolled over all on her own! (And without an incline) We were playing up in the playroom and she started flipping herself on her side. She's been working on getting her leg over (rolling from back to tummy) for a couple of weeks. Luckily Brady and I were both there and were cheering her on (and moving her links rattle further away so she'd have to move more to grab it). Then, she flipped her little leg over, got her left arm out from underneath her, stuck her butt up, and ta-da! Back to front--done!

She didn't try to flip back, but she has an easier time going from front to back anyway.

We were using the digital SLR and not the regular digital camera that takes video so we didn't get a video, but Brady did snap a couple photos right afterward. She looks proud of herself, doesn't she?
