8 months old!

Wow, I'm actually on time this month!

It's been a busy month for Kaelyn. Here are her stats and what she's up to these days:

Height: No clue. It's hard to get her to sit still. We'll get an update at her 9 month checkup

Weight: Last time I got on the scale with her, she was about 21 pounds. I meant to weight her last night, but forgot--I'll update if I remember tonight!

-She's CRAWLING!

-She wears 9 month clothes and up. Her diapers give her a J-Lo booty so we have to buy up a size or two.

-She drinks 6-7 ounces every 3-4 hours. Some days it's way less, some days she's a bottomless pit. She usually gets at least some apple juice during the day to keep her "regular."

-She also has 3 "solid" meals a day. She's now tried: rice cereal, applesauce, bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, green beans, prunes, blueberries, peaches, and pumpkin. Butternut squash and carrots are next. Bolds are her favorites, but she's really becoming a good eater--we don't always use the high chair, but we'll sit next to her while she's eating and she'll turn to us and open her mouth. If we're just not quick enough, she'll start to climb up on us to insist on being fed. This is a big difference from having to make her laugh to get her mouth open.

-Kaelyn has 2 teeth now! Her front bottom two are definitely visible. It seems like she's teething in other areas, but I haven't seen any other teeth poking through yet.

-Sleeping-wise, her bedtime is starting to get earlier, thankfully. Some nights she sleeps through, some nights she's up once...she's getting better, but teething and being sick really threw her off for awhile. Her naps are fairly predictable. Morning naps are about 2 hours after she wakes up and are usually short. Early to mid-afternoon, her afternoon naps are usually between an hour or two. If she takes an evening nap, it varies, depending on how well she napped during the day and the night before.

-She loves to be sung to. It can calm her when she's fussy like nothing else. She definitely has her favorite songs that she recognizes immediately and if she doesn't like your song choice, she'll let you know.

-She's getting shy. She's started staring at people she doesn't know all that well, rather than smile like she used to. When she does smile at people she's not as familiar with, she'll dive into our shoulders or hug us. She's still a very social baby though and she isn't afraid of anything--except my sneezes, which I think scared her in the womb.

-Unfortunately, she's still obsessed with hair. She also likes to pinch and pull neck and face skin and poke the dogs in the eyes. Luckily, Gracie doesn't care as long as she's getting attention.
-She's really into hugging. She'll also now hold her arms out to be picked up. It's adorable.

Our little Kaelyn is really such a happy baby and is soo fun to be around. In some ways, it seems like the past 8 months have flown by, but seeing what a fearless and mobile baby she is now, it's hard to remember what it was like when she was an itty bitty newborn cooing in her warm and snuggly pjs (and staying in one place!)
