1 Year Old!!

Our "Little" Kaelyn Evangeline turned ONE last Saturday. I wanted to wait until we had the official stats from her doctor's check-up (which she had this morning) so here we go!

Weight: 24.12 pounds (92%)

Height: 31.25 inches (97%)

Head Circumference: 47.5 cm (97%)

Dr. Barcellona is really happy with her growth and the fact that she's hit a lot of milestones early :)

What she's up to:

-She takes more steps every day!

-She now knows how to climb the stairs and climb back down

-She climbs on everything and has figured out how to repel off of our bed, which is actually pretty high up.

-She wears mainly 18 month size clothes and size 5 shoes (though she has wiggle room in them yet)

-She now has 5 teeth--two on the top, three on the bottom. Dr. Barcellona says 2 more are coming in on the top, one more on the bottom, and 2 molars are on the way. Poor baby--I guess it's better to do them at once? Maybe??

-Her naps aren't terribly consistent. She usually has at least one long nap a day, sometimes two, sometimes she has two shorter naps. It depends on what's going on and how active she's been. We were told at her checkup that she might cut down to one nap a day over the next couple of months.

-Kaelyn is a very social little girl--she does well with large groups and she loves other kids, particularly boys. At her b-day party, Dillon gave her a hug goodbye and she hugged him back. Talk about adorable :)

-At this point, Brady would tell you that she's a Momma's girl.

-The concensus seems to be that she looks more like me...

...and that she got her red hair from the UPS guy.

haha. Just kidding.

-She does have beautiful reddish hair though and with her pretty blue eyes, she looks like such a little Irish girl :)

-Besides her hair, people comment the most about her SMILE. She's such a happy girl, our very own ray of sunshine. (Except when she's teething, of course.)

-Appropriately, her favorite color is yellow. We've added quite a bit of it to her spring and summer wardrobe because of this.

-She's learning to put things away, but still prefers to empty anything and everything of its contents.

-She's a pretty good eater--her favorite foods right now are cheese slices, veggie dogs, cheesy pasta with ham, peas, blueberry muffins, and banana oat (or pumpkin) pancakes w/ strawberry jam. We started giving her smoothies yesterday--yogurt w/ frozen fruit blended to icy yummy goodness! She LOVES them.

-She loves her juice and seems to like whole milk, too! (She had her first sippy cup of it with her birthday cake, which she ate very little of.)

-Her favorite words are still book and bath, she says Ma-ma and Da-Da, and she's picked up on Budaj's name, but her version is "Boo." Also, when she sees her reflection or a photo of herself, she says "I," which occasionally comes out as "Ice." (Maybe she means "I see"?) She's very talkative most of the time.

-She's not really into TV or movies--sometimes she'll stop and look for a minute, but nothing seems to hold her attention.

-She's really into board books and flipping through them herself. She definitely has certain books she likes the most.

-She LOVES being outside.

-Her "lovey" is now her My Little Pony...it goes with her everywhere.

-Her baths are a lot of fun. I'll tell her to "splash!" and boy does she ever!

-She starts swim class on Saturday morning--I'm sooo excited :)

We love you, Kaelyn Evangeline. You continue to amaze us on a daily basis...and also keep us on our toes.

Oh and once we catch up and get photos uploaded, we'll post some from her b-day party! In the meantime, a couple of recent photos.
