He drove out on Sunday and got in that night in time for an outing to Dave & Busters at Desert Ridge to celebrate Drew's 25th birthday (which was the day before). While Philip was apparently getting flashed by one of the infamous Arizona speeding cameras, Drew, Michelle, Brady, and myself got a headstart on playing games. We started off with racing. This game is soo much fun because the "cars" actually move, shake, etc. to simulate the motion of the car. The boys had a great time trying to ram us into walls and flip our cars, but in the end, Michelle and I were victorious, placing 1st and 2nd :) Sorry guys.
Once Philip arrived, we played some more games. Drew, Michelle, and I tried a snow mobile ride and sped over snow banks with the simulated wind in our hair. I think Michelle won, but I can't remember. Drew and I also tried a shoot-em up game. After a while, we decided to head downstairs and do some bowling. Here's Michelle after her turn.
Philip and Drew...umm...yeah :)
After bowling, we went back upstairs and played some more games, but spent most of our time at the trivia game. We cashed in our prize tickets and before calling it a night, we coaxed a complete stranger to take a group picture. Drew looks terrified.
Brady took Monday off to spend some time with Philip. They checked out some schools, the casino, stalked the Red Wings and headed back to Dave & Busters.
Now to understand Philip's obsession with the Wings, here was his outfit at our wedding.
We actually loved it. It was sooo him. But it would not surprise me if 90% of his closet were filled with Red Wings clothes.Sooo, they were successful at tracking down the Wings at Jobing.com Arena. Brady documented the occasion in pictures while Philip waved at them from afar. Chelios even waved back. Here's Great-Grandpappy himself boarding the team bus. See? Hockey players are just like anybody else. They too walk around with a cell phone glued to their ears. No word from his agent on his interest in joining our up and coming New Mexico-based hockey team--The Geriatrics, featuring all of the retired greats.
That night we hung out back at our place and watched Sweeney Todd and definitely had some good laughs.
Tuesday night was the Red Wings/Coyotes game. While Philip went to the game, Brady and I watched from the comfort of home. We were actually cheering for the Wings, if you can believe that, because it would definitely help us in the standings. Plus we figured Philip traveled all the way out to Phoenix, we hoped he would see a Wings victory. Well, wouldn't you know it? The Coyotes dominated the game and beat the Wings for the first time in a very long time.
Wednesday night we met up with Drew and Philip for dinner at Bobby Q's, where we also had our rehearsal dinner. They had spent the day going to ASU to check out---well, this is debatable, but they were supposed to be checking out the law school, followed by a trip to the casino, and then to Philip's favorite mall Arizona Mills (someday we'll have to broaden his horizons). They were in rare form at dinner. It was particularly entertaining for me dining with the three guys. My cheeks hurt I was laughing so hard.
Though we didn't plan to, after the table next to us celebrated a birthday with free desert and a song, we decided to celebrate Drew's birthday...again.
Here's Philip feeding Drew his dessert, hehe, or trying to anyway
After some delicious BBQ and a lot of laughs, we got our waiter to take a group pic.Philip left the next morning, but is sure to be out here again soon. He's currently in the process of picking a law school and it's a good chance he could end up in Arizona.
