13 weeks!

So I thought I would post this survey each week in addition to the weekly info on what Peanut's up to. We haven't been great about taking belly pics, but I'll try to remember to have Brady take one tonight and I'll update the post with it later. ***Updated: Posted belly pic at 13 weeks, 4 days after a yummy lunch at Carrie's baby shower***

What's Happening with Peanut: Measuring in at about 7 centimeters and weighing about 2 ounces, your baby-to-be will spend the rest of the pregnancy concentrating on growing and becoming strong enough to live outside of your uterus. While your baby won't be saying "mommy" for some time, his or her vocal cords are now developing. The fetus also has developed many reflexes and will squirm inside of you if your abdomen is prodded.

I've experienced the squirming first hand when we've used the doppler recently. I'll find the heartbeat and then Peanut will move quickly away from the wand.

How far along? 13 weeks

How big is baby? About the size of a peach

Maternity clothes? I've bought a skirt and a pair of capri pants at this point, but they're both much too big right now because they're full panel. I've worn the capri pants despite this because waistbands just don't feel good anymore. I'm also wearing dresses more.

Sleep: If I could, I'd sleep 12 hours at night and then take naps throughout the day. Since the beginning of the pregnancy, I've had a lot of vivid dreams and I'm having to get up in the middle on the night to use the bathroom so I usually don't feel very well-rested.

Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat never gets old!

Movement: There's a dance party happening...too bad I can't feel it yet.

Food cravings: I'm having more food aversions than anything. My idea of what sounds good or bad can change from minute to minute. The only thing that's been fairly consistent has been potatoes, mashed potatoes in particular. Carbs and starches tend to be the best at settling my stomach, but Peanut won't pass up melted cheese either.

Gender: We'll be setting up the "big" ultrasound at the appointment on Monday! The majority of those who have wagered a guess say girl, but we'll just have to wait to find out. Maybe I'll post a poll :) (You don't have to have a Blogger account to vote--just click on your answer and click vote!)

Belly Button in or out? In, but it seems more shallow.

What I miss: My energy, my brain cells, and not feeling nauseous 24/7--all about equally.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing Peanut again (since s/he has changed a lot since the last ultrasound) and finding out if we're having a son or daughter.

Weekly Wisdom: In the last month, three women in an online community/message board I'm a part of, have lost their babies after going into pre-term labor. Two had suffered previous losses. My heart breaks for them...I can't imagine what they're going through.

This has put a lot into perspective and while I've been thankful for Peanut since the beginning, I'm even more thankful now. I absolutely do not take for granted the fact that I'm pregnant and Peanut is healthy. I love this itty bitty person so much already.

Milestones: We got our travel system! Yes, it's way early, but we found a fantastic deal online we couldn't pass up. Also, I can feel the bump emerging through the bloat.
