Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over his or her body for warmth. We definitely saw some thumb sucking at our OB modeling ultrasound, along with a whole lot of kicking and flipping!
How far along? 14 weeks
How big is baby? About the size of a lemon
Maternity clothes? Dresses are awesome, full panels are comfy (even though I swim in them), waistbands are evil. I also need to find some maternity jeans (in hopes the weather will cool off soon!)
Sleep: Lots of vivid dreams keep me from feeling like I got a good night's sleep. I could still sleep through most of the day if that were a possibility. Still have my 4 am, sometimes 2 am ritual of getting up to use the bathroom. According to Brady's Caveman book, this will at least double soon.
Best moment this week: Seeing Peanut again! That was amazing to be able to watch him/her for so long and to see how active s/he is.
Movement: Evidently Peanut is very active and didn't stay in one position for very long. S/he was bouncing around, flipping, standing, and generally being a goofy little baby. I can't feel all this movement yet, but can't wait until I do! It definitely explains why I have no energy though--Peanut uses all of it up!
Food cravings: Still more aversions than anything. Food does not sound appealing in the least before 11 a.m. at the very earliest. Queso dip will not last more than 3 days in our house and I would eat mashed potatoes at every meal. Most of the time I don't feel like eating so when I do, I can only eat a small amount before it makes my stomach ache.
Gender: My OB office doesn't schedule the big u/s/anatomy scan until 18-20 weeks, but prefers 20 weeks to be able to get all the measurements they need. My OB offered to sneak me in at 17 weeks just to take a peek to see what we're having :) We go back to the college for another OB modeling experience on September 14th and I think they're bound and determined to figure out if Peanut's a boy or girl so sometime in the next 2-3 weeks, we should know!
Belly Button in or out? Innie and shallow. I'm wondering if I will be one of the ones who has a popped out belly button like a turkey thermometer.
What I miss: My energy, my brain cells, and not feeling nauseous 24/7--yeah, same as last week. I think I miss my energy the most. I'm exhausted all the time.
What I am looking forward to: Not baby-related, but going to Disneyland! Also, the big ultrasound and feeling Peanut move for the first time!
Weekly Wisdom: A day at the pool is a wonderful thing. For 5 hours, my momma and I got to pretend we were on vacation at a beautiful resort. It was marvelous.
the first time you feel Peanut move will stay with you forever. It's wonderful!!
