Your baby is about 15 inches head to toe. You may notice in the weeks to come that he or she will begin to have regular, predictable patterns of movement and sleep (and, unfortunately, your patterns of sleep are going to become less regular!).
Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means she's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.
How far along? 27 weeksHow big is baby? Just one new size comparison for this week. She's about the size of a head of cauliflower. About 14 1/2+ inches head to heel and around 2 pounds.
Sleep: I could definitely use some more! I tend to sleep better in the early morning and unfortunately that's when I have to get up for work. Budaj also likes to sprawl out on the foot of the bed so it makes stretching out a little more difficult.
Best moment this week: Our 2 Thanksgivings. Spending time with family was great. We had a lot of fun during games and I loved snuggling with Morgan!
Movement: She has quiet days and days when she can't sit still. Thanksgiving morning was definitely an active morning when I got to see my belly jump with her kicks (laying down helps). Brady and I sat and watched her the other night too. Evenings are still her favorite time of day. I wish I could see what's she's doing sometimes because with her flipping all the time, it's hard to tell what position she's in.
Food cravings: Grilled sandwiches and Frosted Flakes cereal.
What I miss: I'm sticking with not getting winded so easily. I need to learn to talk slower or something. I also miss my normal shoe size. I'm sticking with flip flops most of the time (even under my desk at work), but I swear they've gotten longer. I'd probably say I'm up to an 11 1/2 or close to a 12. If I thought shoe shopping was challenging before, I can only imagine. I seem to have a perpetual layer of squishiness in the top of my left food mainly that will hold indentations.
What I am looking forward to: Seeing Kaelyn in 3D/4D on Saturday!! It's such a feeling of anticipation because I've seen how similar babies look to their 3D ultrasound when they're born and that's just amazing to me that we'll get to see a realistic peek at our little girl in a few days.
Milestones: Thanks to some Black Friday deals, we got our downstairs rocker/glider w/ ottoman and a high chair. I also just bought a bunch of essentials online, as well as a Fisher Price Neptune Adventure Gym for $40 off over on Amazon.com! Slowly, but surely, we're making our way through our to-buy list. I also finished 3 of the 4 wall quotes/art I decided to do for the nursery. I'll have to take photos to post when I'm done with the last one. Oh yeah, and 1 week until 3rd trimester!
Weekly Wisdom: If you plan to brave Black Friday, take the whole day off. I was a zombie at work, though I literally had to work because of one coworker being off and one calling in sick. Oh well. It would have been wonderful to go home and sleep after a few hours of shopping. Oh and most things can be found cheaper online. Also, don't buy anything online without a coupon code. (With the exception of Amazon and eBay who rarely offer them.)
