Let me tell you about my best friend Sherry. Oh what do I say about my Sherry? Well, she wasn't just the pretty girl in the navy gown fluffing my train and hol
ding my bouquet at our wedding. She's not just the roommate I had for a year in college. She's more than my social butterfly couterpart I spent countless weekends with going to movies, playing games, swimming, and just goofing around with in junior high and high school and after. She's not just the Godmother to our beautiful little girl. No, no, Sherry is much, much more. We have 16 years of watching the other's back, late night talks, tears, and laughter. We've been there for each other through the toughest times I hope either of us experience in our lives.
One of those times was when Sherry's mom lost her fight with cancer, Christmas 2005. Ever since then, Sherry has fought cancer through fundraising, through involvement with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, through coordinating an annual Relay for Life, with the hope that one day research made possible by fundraising will find a cure. This year, Sherry is training for Team in Training and will be running a 1/2 marathon over the summer. What I'm asking of our family and friends who read the blog is this: Please make a contribution. It doesn't matter if it's $5, $10, $25 or $100 (or more if you're feeling really generous). In order to qualify to participate in the entirety of the training as well as the marathon, Sherry needs to raise $1700. That's a LOT of money to try to collect with the way the economy is these days. Think about it this way: $5 barely buys you a foo-foo Starbucks drink. It's about a gallon and a half of gas. It's not even enough to get most combo meals at a fast food place. It's not a lot. Most of us can spare a lot more than that. Your contribution will not only go to a great cause, but it'll remind Sherry what an awesome person she is and what a great thing she's doing...plus it's tax-deductible.
Give a little or give a lot...to read more about Sherry's cause and to make a contribution, take a look at her fundraising page:
Thank you!!
