14 Months Old!

Kaelyn doesn't have another check-up for awhile, but thought I'd post an update about what she's been up to:

-She weighs herself now--it's pretty funny. She's right around 25-26 lbs. (She tends to wear shoes, move around, and take toys on the scale with her so it varies.)
-She's in 18-24 month size tops, 24 month-2T bottoms (for her diaper, of course), and size 5 shoes
-She sleeps through the night 8/8:30 to 6:30 most days of the week. Some days it's a little longer on both ends. She usually takes either 2 shorter naps or 1 long nap during the day.
-I believe she has about 10 teeth, including at least 2 molars
-Her hair has a LOT of curl in the back now and flips up on the sides. I LOVE it! She doesn't like things in her hair anymore though so her hair gets in her eyes a lot. Sometimes I just pull it up into a pony tail on top of her head, which Brady calls Dr. Seuss hair, but I'd love to train it to go back instead of forward. It's almost long enough in the back for a pony tail actually. Oh and it's still RED :)
-She's a pretty good eater, from pasta to veggies to fruit to grilled cheese and everything in between. We haven't really come across anything she really dislikes. She was munching on a lemon one day (we were out to dinner and it was from my water glass) and she loved it until the flavor really kicked in :) In particular, she loves graham crackers, veggie dogs, cheese slices, fish (woohoo!), pumpkin pancakes, and anything Momma has on her plate.
-To say she's mobile would be an understatement. She runs (in E.T. fashion), she climbs up and down the stairs, she sets things up as steps, she climbs on the couch, on the gates, on furniture. She likes to stand while rocking on her rocking chair. Nothing like keeping us on our toes!
-Yellow is still, by far, her favorite color
-She's very social and loves other kids. I don't think she realizes she's as young as she is.
-She knows where to find her toes, her belly button and her feet. If you tell her "right foot" while putting on her shoes, she'll lift her right foot up to help. Same with the left. It's adorable and pretty handy for getting her dressed (she'll do the same for pants). Diaper changes are a little more of a struggle because she doesn't like to stay still.
-She does a different wave for "hi" than she does for "buh-bye"
-She'll give you "five" and we're working on the fist bump--she thinks the sound effect is hilarious
-She seems to understand most of what we say these days.
-She signs for "want," though I'm not sure if it's technically the correct sign. She does it consistently though!
-Her memory is definitely improving. She'll drop a toy somewhere, go play for awhile, and remember exactly where she left it
-She's very "talkative"--she'll say Da and Dada, Momma, Ba-ba (bottle/sippy cup), book, bath, yes, she's starting to say "dog," she says "bay" when she sees a photo of a baby...I'm drawing a blank, but she is quite the chatty girl. A lot is still toddler talk of course.
-Thankfully, she's learning to put stuff away and not just spread it out all over the floor :) In fact, from all our encouraging and praise when she does this, she'll now clap for herself when she puts something back in the fridge.
-Kaelyn's still testing her boundaries and the extent of her power by throwing temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way or she's particularly tired. (Usually it's a combination of both.) We try to ignore her and just praise her when she snaps out of it.
-She's a daredevil and loves to spin and get tossed around.
-She's gotten TICKLISH!
-One of our favorite things she does? Hugs. She'll also pat us on the back during the hug, which is so stinkin' cute.

Some recent photos:

Talking to Daddy. She carried on a 10 min conversation with his radio after we had finished the call, but it hadn't hung up on his end.

One day she fell asleep in her high-chair...and slept for at least an hour and a half!

And as an extra bonus, videos!

LOVE her giggles

We love you, our Little! You make life SO much fun and we're very lucky and grateful to be able to call you our daughter :)
