Baby's energy is surging, thanks to white fat depositing beneath his skin. And since he's growing so fast (weight will triple by birth), things are getting kind of cramped in the womb. What all this means for you: Get ready for some more kicks and jabs to the ribs.
He or she may be up all night and asleep all day, which is making rest tough for you! Don't worry, this doesn't guarantee that your baby will be a night owl after birth. He or she probably won't sleep through the night until about 6 weeks of age or so, but creating a bedtime routine and keeping the nursery quiet and dark will help your baby learn that sleep time is precious to your whole family.
How far along? 29 weeks
How big is baby? Okay, the new size comparisons for month 7 are...1) a squash, 2) the guy-friendly is the front wheel on the original Big Wheel, and 3) the weekly update is a butternut squash. For the week, she's estimated to be a little over 15 inches and 2.5+ lbs.
Sleep: I slept until 10 am both days this weekend, which I think I needed. It's hard to get quality sleep these days and I wake up a lot throughout the night. It's unpredictable what position is most comfortable for sleeping. I need to start making myself take naps more.
Best moment this week: While working on some stuff in the upstairs, I sat down on the glider in the nursery and started rocking. As I did, Kaelyn starting moving around and kicking. Pretty cool. I also am beginning to think that resting my hand on my belly to feel her move actually calms her.
Movement: She's been doing more kickboxing sessions where the kicks and punches are timed much closer together. I definitely feel when she's changing position and things start to stretch.
Food cravings: I still want my cheese fries :)
What I miss: Sleeping through the night. Normal ankles and feet...I swear my feet are normally far more narrow. My wedding ring.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the results of my glucose tolerance test. Please no 3-hour, please no 3-hour. A relaxing weekend--movie night on Friday (I think), a day with the Hubs, our relaxation and breathing class, and Ryan and Riss' Christmas party on Saturday, and still to be determined on Sunday. Also, Christmas next week!
Milestones: Crossing more things off our to-do list, strangers openly ask me my due date (one of these times I'm going to look at them dumbfounded and say 'What do you mean? I'm not pregnant.'), and our crib is off back-order so we'll order it soon!
Weekly Wisdom: Make yourself relax. Look at the to-do list reasonably and ask yourself: "Does this really need to be done?" If you're in full nesting psychosis, you might think it does, but more than likely, it really doesn't.
