What's going on with Kaelyn:
From now on, baby's growth is mostly in the plumping up department -- though he won't get much longer, he'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. (He's about 15 percent right now and will be about 30 percent by full-term.) His hearing is totally developed (tip: baby responds best to higher pitches).
I went to the dentist on Monday and my hygienist Heather was telling me how babies will act up in response to the high pitches of their tools, which I definitely found to be true. She was squirming quite a bit.
Oh and my other update tells me that on average babies gain 1/2 pound a week during the last weeks of pregnancy.
How far along? 35 weeks
How big is baby? About 5 1/4 pounds and about 18 inches long, head to heel. Our fruit comparison is still a honeydew melon. The next comparison change on 2 of the 3 sites I use is the last comparison. Wow. I remember when she was the size of a poppyseed and I was thinking how many comparisons I had to go and now, we're almost there!
Sleep: The aches make it a challenge, as does the getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and the heartburn. Oy, the heartburn.
Best moment this week: Getting more done in the nursery. I'm feeling more prepared.
Movement: It feels really weird now. She's head down facing my spine so most of her kicks are more internal. Yeah, doesn't feel good a lot of the time. I still love to feel her move though, especially when it seems like it's in response to me talking or singing to her.
Food cravings: Subs. French fries.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: not having stomach aches or heartburn.
What I am looking forward to: growth ultrasound next week and finishing up the nursery. We're also getting together with Spencer and Jessica for a hockey game night (finally!) so we're looking forward to that.
Milestones: 35/35! 35 weeks pregnant, 35 days to go. 35 days is not very much time. At all. Particularly when full-term is actually in 2 weeks so she can arrive at anytime after that. It's surreal, but I'm so excited to meet her.
We got more done in the nursery--clothes, blankets, bibs, burp cloths, sheets, are all washed. Things are basically where they will be. We just have to hang up the wall art, shelves, and finish organizing. I still have a wall art/quote to paint, but I've accepted that I might not get that done until after she's born so I'm not going to stress about it. Both of the bouncers are put together too and the jogging stroller will hopefully get assembled this weekend. (We also need to get the car seat bases installed soon!) The to-do list is looking much more manageable.
Weekly Wisdom: Find some quiet time. I did that yesterday on my drive home. I opened the sunroof, rolled down one of the windows, and drove the surface streets (since the freeway tends to be backed up and stressful) with the radio off. It was wonderful to get rid of the noise for awhile. I concentrated on relaxing my breathing and I sang to Kaelyn for part of it.
she'll love that after she's born. have Brady sing and talk to her, too.
ReplyDeletei sang off key, but that didn't matter. Justin still likes when i sing.
