It was good news today when I went to see her. My blood pressure was back to what it normally has been during pregnancy--about 120/74 (as opposed to 140+/92 on Friday) and I had lost 5 pounds of water weight. With the results of my lab work from the hospital and the normal labs they do at every appointment, she completely ruled out pre-eclampsia. Now she said I'm back to being a regular patient at almost 39 weeks along.
Phew.
Today I measured on track (slightly bigger at 40 cm, probably due to the high amount of amniotic fluid) and Kaelyn's heartrate was about 140 beats per minute.
Now, a few weeks ago, Dr. Hlavacek called me a first-time "show off" because I had made some progress already. On Friday, she said that if lab work pointed to me having pre-eclampsia and she needed to induce me, she was pretty confident that I'd take to it. Now that I don't have pre-eclampsia, we talked instead about if I wanted to do an elective induction or if I'd rather just wait it out. The hospital has requirements for inductions and rate each patient's candidacy. I think she said to qualify, you need to be a 3 or 4. She said I'm at least a 5 on their scale. This also means I don't have any higher of a risk of needing a c-section if I opt for an induction than if I went into labor on my own. Since it's easier to grab the spot on the induction list and release it, I went ahead and took the first spot available, which is Friday/Saturday at midnight. If Labor & Delivery happens to be busy though, I'd get bumped, which makes sense so this isn't set in stone. I'm, of course, hoping to go into labor on my own before then anyways. We shall see though.
So Kaelyn's healthy, I'm healthy...and all signs point to us getting to meet her soon! We're definitely ready. Now it's just a waiting game :)
phew...for sure. well, you blew past my guess date.
